There very basics of weight loss are that you need to burn more calories per day than what you consume. One pound of fat is equal to 3500 calories. That means that you have to burn off 3500 more calories than you take in orders to lose one pound. A normal person just doing normal activities burns between 2500 and 3000 calories per day. This does vary somewhat because what is normal activity for one person may be more than what is normal for another person. Your weight also makes a difference. If a person who weighs 200 pounds does the same activity as a person weighing 120 pound the person who weighs more will actually burn more calories. This is because it burns calories to move around all that weight. So hey at least I’ve got that going for me! I found this really great calculator at http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc where you type in your weight and what activities you do during a day and it will calculate how many calories that you burn in a day.
Now that you have figured out how many calories you burn a day, the next thing is to figure out how many calories you take in during the day, and adjust your calories to meet your weight loss goals. Let’s just say that you burn 3000 calories a day. If you take in 2000 calories you will lose one pound every four days or so. At 1800 calories a day you will lose a pound every 3 days and at 1200 every two days. Going below 1200 calories a day is dangerous and should not be done. You may immediately say I will do 1200 calories a day and lose weight faster. The problem with this is that 1200 calories a day can become hard to sustain day after day. Also your goal should be to become healthier and not just lose weight. A slower weight lose is actually healthier. Another idea is to mix it up. As you plan your week have some days 1800 calories, some 1500 calorie days and some 1200 calorie days. Comments (2):
