I learned a great deal from Weight Watchers. If I was going to recommend a weight loss program that would be the one that I would recommend. There are two basic programs that you can choose from. One is a low carbohydrate program and one is basically a calorie counting program. The calorie counting programs is done by calculating the calories, fat and fiber in any food item and then it is assigned a point value. You are then allowed to eat a certain amount of points a day. With this way of calculating you are able to eat anything you want as long as you have the points available to do so. The second option you have a list of foods that you are able to eat. There is no calculating points or measuring portions, however there are allot of foods that you are not suppose to eat and others that you can eat in limited amounts. So this option is less hassle but more restrictive. There is also the weekly meeting that you need to attend. At this meeting you start out by weighing in. You are provided with a card to keep track of the weight that you lose. After you weigh in you go into a half an hour meeting. These meetings are usually very informative and there can be allot of discussion and ideas from the group. The down side to this program is that it does cost money and can get kind of expensive at $13 - $15 a week, plus an initial registration fee. The other thing is that the meeting may not be at a time that you can make a commitment to attend every week. |
