As with all of life, the key word is balance. In a woman’s world, making time for yourself is essential and it may seem hard to balance all of your health needs with living life. This is no truer than when it comes to staying fit. Exercise is key to that goal. Balance is the key to exercise for you as a woman.
The essential element of exercise in a woman’s life is all about movement. Whether you are out of shape or in the best shape of your life, proper exercise is all about moving; moving in ways to improve your fitness. Fitness helps keep your heart and bones healthy and strong.
The current trend is that moderate exercise is truly the healthiest. Continuous movement for 30 minutes daily is the recommendation. Even breaking this into three, ten minute workouts will work and there is some thought that it is better to spread out your exercise in this way through-out the day rather than an all at once approach. This workout could be walking, swimming, cycling or even intense vacuuming; anything that keeps you moving. Warming up and cooling down are always advised and this can be slower versions of the above.
Adding resistance and/or weight training is also of great benefit to staying fit. For women, any weight bearing exercise helps to keep bones strong. Along with your exercise routine, stretching and toning exercises like those done in Pilates and yoga, help build a woman’s core strength. This helps keep her back and abdominal muscles strong. There are exercise routines and plans for every woman at every stage and age of life. Again, a few minutes of slow and steady movement will win you the race of health and fitness for the long enjoyable life you desire and deserve.
