* Jogging: Day or Night *

Many people have the misconception that jogging at night is better than in the morning, while others feel jogging in the morning is better than at night. The truth of the matter is jogging at any time of the day is healthy. This exercise helps to build up the cardiovascular system and increase metabolism. The key to faster results is consistency. If you are a morning person start your day out with a light meal followed by a routine jog. If you have a busy schedule during the day, then try a nighttime jogging routine.

The reason jogging times should be consistent is the body has a circadian rhythm which adjusts to daily activities. This cycle regulates a number of bodily functions such as metabolism, body temperature and blood pressure, among other things. The body will be more ready for exercise when it is consistent, so much so that researchers found that joggers who try to change up their routine to another time of day felt very lethargic.

An experiment was conducted with a large group of people who worked out sparingly. They were asked to perform the same work out routine each day for one month consistently. After that, they were studied to see if they continued this workout and when. Half of the group decided to workout during the day and the other half at night. At the end of the 30 days the morning workout individuals continued their routines; whereas the individuals that chose to work out at night tapered off. So the real benefit of jogging is based on will and how consistent you are in your routine. Time of day does not matter.
